DHL Supply Chain s.r.o. is one of the world’s leading providers of logistics services. The company approached us to help them optimize internal logistics at one of their distribution centers in the Czech Republic. The main motivation was to prepare for the onslaught and increased demand during the Black Friday season, during which the warehouse was overloaded in the previous year. This contributed to delayed deliveries, higher picking error rates and customer dissatisfaction.
reorganize the goods
prevention of overloading any site
Based on data analysis and heatmaps of the previous season’s picking, we identified where the system load was highest and where there was a margin. We then performed a sophisticated product categorization and calculation of expected stock flow for the upcoming season. We suggested to DHL a key to reorganize the goods in the catchment racks in relation to inventory turnover and a way to actively manage picking waves as a prevention of overloading any site.
It is the even loading of the warehouse that will increase the flow of goods through the warehouse, increase productivity and ensure maximum efficient use of capacity and resources. Thanks to our expert know-how and innovative ideas, we have designed a solution that makes the most of the warehouse’s potential.
