MOTIVATION

Lindab is an important European manufacturer and supplier of building materials; their product portfolio includes ventilation systems, roof, facade and eave systems, and steel profiles for building construction. The company reached out to us to ask for help with creating a suitable distribution model which would respect its future needs.

SOLUTION

First, we conducted an analysis of the current distribution network and estimated future demand. We then constructed a few scenarios of the distribution model which were differing in location of the individual distributional knots and their function. We modeled and verified these scenarios in our own software created for distribution strategy designing. Together with Lindab, we evaluated the scenarios and found one that is optimal for its cost minimization and customer serviceability maximization.

CONCLUSION

The result is an important foundation for feasibility studies of investment character which serve the management in strategic decisions regarding the future of the company.
