F. X. Meiller is globally recognized for manufacturing tipper and container bodies for trucks. As they aimed to develop their warehouse facilities in Slaný, they consulted Logio. The pivotal choice was whether to establish one main warehouse on-site or maintain several scattered storages. This centralized warehouse would house both standard parts and various sheet metal formats, including oversized ones. The company also has ambitions to modernize and streamline existing storage and handling methods, including the use of automated storage technologies.
CALCULATION OF FUTURE WAREHOUSE CAPACITIES
DESIGN OF WAREHOUSE TECHNOLOGIES
ATTENTION TO SHEET METAL STORAGE
The project’s initial phase focused on calculating future storage needs, drawing insights from the company’s bill of materials, logistical data, and future plans. The resulting figures were the basis for the design of suitable storage solutions for every item type. Storing sheet metal, a substantial component of the overall volume, warranted special attention. This is where automated tower systems emerged as potential solution, offering not just space efficiency but also speeding up the material picking and handling processes for production.
For F. X. Meiller, we crafted a study centered on a prospective central warehouse, outlining the essential investment costs and specifying the space requirements at the site. Our study acts as a strategic document for subsequent management decisions, guiding the evolution of production and logistics at the facility.
